 Grid integration is the practice of developing efficient ways to deliver variable renewable energy (RE) to the grid. Robust integration methods maximize the cost-effectiveness of incorporating variable RE into the power system while maintaining or increasing system stability and reliability.

Solar-Grid integration is the technology that allows large scale solar power produced from PV or CSP system to penetrate the already existing power grid. This technology requires careful considerations and attentions including in areas of solar component manufacturing, installations and operation systems.

Because solar and wind tend to be more variable and uncertain than conventional sources, meeting these targets will involve changes to power system planning and operations. A general system diagram of grid-connected PV systems is shown in fig and consists of three main components: PV panels (or arrays), power converters (PV inverters), and ac grid. As the power generated by the PV arrays is dc power, the power converter, which is a power electronic-based technology, is required to convert the dc power from the PV arrays to the ac power . In other words, power converter plays an important role in controlling the power delivery and at the same time ensuring a proper integration between the PV and the grid. Additionally, other specifications are imposed by the grid requirements to make grid-connected PV systems
